How to install Dressmaker mods

Updated 30 September 2026Checked against Build 410

Quick answer
  • Install Yuuma's Dressmaker ModLoader into the game folder first; most packs need it.
  • Find the folder via Steam: right-click Dressmaker, Properties, Installed Files, Browse.
  • Import content packs in game: gear icon (top right), Mod Manager, then pick the .zip.
  • Back up your save in the Mod Manager before trying new packs.

Dressmaker has no official mod support or Steam Workshop. The community built its own. Almost every content pack runs through Yuuma’s Dressmaker ModLoader, a BepInEx-based loader with an in-game Mod Manager.

Before you start: mods are unofficial. Back up your save, and if something breaks, remove the mods before reporting a bug to the developers.

Step 1: Install the ModLoader

  1. Download the ModLoader build for your system (Windows or macOS) from its Nexus page. Our ModLoader page has the download button.
  2. Open Steam, right-click Dressmaker in your library, then choose Properties → Installed Files → Browse.
  3. Drag the contents of the zip straight into that folder (steamapps/common/dressmaker).

Do not put the files in a subfolder. They must sit directly in the game folder.

  1. Launch Dressmaker and open the gear (settings) menu in the top-right corner. If the loader is installed, you’ll see a Mod Manager option.

Step 2: Add content packs

Fabric, accessory and other content packs are imported from inside the game:

  1. Download the pack’s .zip (for example Glittery Fantasy Fabrics).
  2. In game, click the gear icon (top right) and choose Mod Manager.
  3. Import the zip. Recent versions have a file picker and accept zipped or unzipped packs.
  4. Restart the game when prompted.

Use the Mod Manager to disable or remove packs at any time.

Updating the ModLoader

Download the new version and extract it into the same game folder. When asked, choose Replace All.

Uninstalling mods

  • One pack: remove or disable it in the Mod Manager.
  • Everything: back up your save, then delete the files the loader added to the game folder. For BepInEx-based loaders on Windows these are usually the BepInEx folder, winhttp.dll and doorstop_config.ini; compare against the loader’s zip to be sure.
  • Steam’s Verify integrity of game files restores changed game files, but it does not delete extra files, so it will not remove the loader on its own.

Troubleshooting

  • No Mod Manager in the gear menu: the files are probably in a subfolder. Move them up into the main game folder.
  • Game crashes after a patch: the loader or a pack may need an update. Check the mod pages.
  • A pack doesn’t show up: check that it doesn’t need a newer loader version (some need 0.6.51 or newer).

Frequently asked questions

Are Dressmaker mods safe?

Mods are unofficial code and art made by players. Download from the author's own page (we link to the original Nexus listing), read the comments for problems, and back up your save first. We only host files ourselves with the author's permission and publish a SHA-256 checksum for them.

Do mods work on Mac?

Yuuma's ModLoader offers a macOS download as well as Windows. Individual packs import through the loader, so they should work wherever the loader does, but check each mod's page.

Will mods break when the game updates?

They can. After a patch, check the mod page for an update before reporting bugs to the developers.
