Dressmaker troubleshooting
- Update first: Builds 403 and 410 fixed the most-reported launch bugs.
- Mac 'cannot be opened' warning on the free prototype: allow it in Privacy and Security.

If you still see one of these, verify the game files in Steam (right-click Dressmaker, Properties, Installed Files, Verify integrity of game files).
Mac: “Dressmaker can’t be opened” (free prototype)
The free itch.io prototype is not notarized by Apple, so macOS warns that it may be unsafe. The developers’ own instructions:
- Open System Settings and click Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down and click Open Anyway next to the Dressmaker message.
- Confirm with Open when the warning appears again.
This applies to the prototype. The Steam version installs through Steam.
Problems after installing mods
Mods are unofficial and can break after a game update.
- Open the Mod Manager (gear icon, top right) and disable packs one at a time to find the culprit.
- The ModLoader can back up and restore saves. Make a backup before trying new packs.
